Tawananyasha is a non-governmental not for profit organization that seeks to build the capacity of marginalized members of the society through different programs that increase the disposable income to those who would not manage without support from others. This organization is member owned and the majority of members are women heads of families and their children. It started in 1997 when women in the Mutoko rural area could not raise monies to feed their families, they decided to put together the money they had. Then they gave it to each other to start this project. Eventually, they increased their resources and ended up with a revolving micro-credit fund. This enabled each one of them to borrow money and invest in micro-enterprise activities. The success of these women led to the formation of Tawananyasha Mother and Child Association. Members are now involved in projects such as dairy farming, small livestock production, food processing, home based care, nutrition, education, food security and child support services.
