Tawananyasha seeks to improve the health of marginalized rural areas through its various programs which include lobbying and advocating for the rights of women and children. The health of women is compromised in communities that are not gender sensitive and those that do not respect women rights. Poverty has also driven women and children into commercial sexual activities for them to earn a living.  There are a lot of risks in commercial sex work and the most affected are the child headed families.  Tawananyasha provide training and education that offer alternative non risk ways of living. It also support home based care programs to reduce chances of transmission to families that are taking care of their sick relatives. Rural women and girls need education on reproductive health especially those from child headed families do not have adults to teach them about this issue.
